State-of-the-art report on methods and practices for fostering inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities
This part of the project is all about understanding how youth workers and educators can use artistic and creative methods to support the social inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities (YPWFO), including rural youth, youth with disabilities, and young migrants or refugees.
Through research and interviews, we are developing a comprehensive State-of-the-Art Report that will highlight current practices, identify challenges, and offer concrete recommendations for using creativity to build more inclusive communities.
What will this work package achieve?
- Map existing artistic and creative tools used by youth workers and educators.
- Identify the main challenges professionals face in meeting the needs of young people.
- Provide practical guidelines and recommendations on how to use creative methods to foster inclusion.
The insights from this research will lay the foundation for future training materials and activities. It will directly support youth professionals in developing their skills and adapting their methods to be more inclusive, impactful, and engaging.
By focusing on real needs and proven approaches, this work package will not only strengthen inclusion and diversity, but also promote active citizenship and meaningful participation for all young people.

Inclusionary TOOLBOX: Artistic Methods for Youth Workers
In Work Package 3, we are building the Inclusionary TOOLBOX, a comprehensive educational resource designed to equip youth workers with practical artistic methods to engage and support young people with fewer opportunities (YPWFO).
What’s Inside the TOOLBOX?
The TOOLBOX will consist of four structured learning modules, co-created by partners, based on the research conducted in Work Package 2. Each module offers guidance, tools, and step-by-step activities to help youth workers implement creative methods that foster inclusion, expression, and participation.
It all starts with a Learning Matrix
The foundation of the TOOLBOX is the Learning Matrix, which defines the key skills, knowledge, and attitudes youth workers need to develop through the programme. This ensures a shared understanding across all partners and sets a clear learning path.
The Modules
- Module 1: Assessing the Needs of the Target Group – how to identify and understand the needs of young people
- Module 2: Music-Based Methods – created by our Spanish partner, this module explores the use of music in youth work
- Module 3: Visual Arts-Based Methods – developed collaboratively by partners from Lithuania, Bulgaria, and Cyprus
- Module 4: Theatre Methods – created by the Romanian team, focused on drama and performance as tools for inclusion

Inclusionary MOOC
The MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) brings together everything we’ve learned about using the arts to foster inclusion. The course is designed especially for youth workers, educators, and facilitators who want to use creative methods—like music, theatre, and visual arts—to support young people with fewer opportunities.
Art is a powerful tool for self-expression, confidence-building, and social connection, especially for youth from underprivileged backgrounds. That’s why this online course will guide learners through four engaging modules, each focused on a different method and designed to help them grow their skills, knowledge, and mindset.
- Introduction – Welcome video and technical guidance
- Module 1 – Understanding the needs of young people (by Udruga Delta)
- Module 2 – Music methods for youth work (by Udruga Delta)
- Module 3 – Visual art approaches (by InterAktion, Espacio Rojo, GAIA Museum)
- Module 4 – Theatre-based methods (by A4ACTION)
- Final Section – Wrap-up, tips for completion, and practical recommendations
Each module will include learning objectives, practical exercises from the TOOLBOX, instructional videos, and interactive content like quizzes and infographics to keep learners engaged. The course will be hosted on HOP online platform managed by SALTO, ensuring it is accessible, interactive, and free to use.
With this MOOC, we aim to equip youth professionals with creative tools that make their work more impactful and inclusive—one learner, one community at a time.
